We bid you welcome to the annual lighting of the Stonehedge Christmas tree. You will enter the Stonehedge Gift Shop and be escorted to the Great Room on the second floor. Passing through the Medieval dining room, you will enter the Great Room where you will take a seat around the eighteen-foot Christmas Tree.
Adorning the tree are innumerable porcelain, blown glass, antique, and hand-made ornaments and over three hundred feet of glittering Strauss Crystal, placed amidst Stonehedge's own magnificent, illuminated poinsettias and snow flakes. Over 14,000 lights of various hues controlled by 25 separate dimmers, contribute their own ethereal warmth.
As you take your seat, the Great Room is semi-darkened. The tree is dimmed. Then the magic of Stonehedge begins...For the next 20 minute's the lighting of the Stonehedge Christmas Tree, accompanied by beautiful music of the season, done in six segments, will transport you to a place where all is serene and everything is beautiful.
Each segment is accompanied by its own music and lighting hues.
The first segment: To the music of "Ave Maria"-Schubert
The second segment: To the music of "The First Noel" - Traditional
The third segment: To the music of "O Sanctissima" - Traditional
The fourth segment: To the music of "The Worship of God" - Beethoven
The fifth segment: To the music of "Once in Royal David's City" - Alexander
The sixth segment: To the music of "Silent Night with voice" - Gruber/Mohr.
The sixth segment is a meditative period allowing you a tranquil moment in this often hectic season to reflect upon your personal memories and dreams. followed by refreshments of holiday punch, coffee, cakes and cookies and an opportunity to share the magic with others.
